Quilt/Embroidery Tip 1

Quilting and Embroidery Tip.
I had finished my quilt, but before binding I decided to add another border. I do not have a quilting machine,  I do  not free hand quilt.
How do I quilt it?  I  decided I could  quilt the border using  a embroidery machine design.  I did, and it worked beautiful. I did measure, and test embroidery on similar set ups till I liked the results. I did babysit the embroidery process making sure the weight of the whole quilt did not weight down or imped the embroidery arm.  I have quilted several variations of this process  depending on the quilt. I love it.

Quilting/Embroidery tip 2

Quilting/Embroidery tip.
Quilting the bottom border of my almost finished quilt, using an Embroidery Design. I attached the bottom embroidery hoop, no stabilizer, no top hoop, 3 layers fabric, top fabric, batting, and back fabric. On test fabric, run a test. I measure placement design and placement on border. Using those measurement centers and start point, clip the 3 layers border fabric in center position so the fabric is taut. Embroidery. If the border is not clipped on all 4 sides watch and sometimes check the raw edge of border making sure it is in place. Check often that the bulk of the quilt is not impeding the embroidery arm. Enjoy..

Machine Embroidery Points for Terry Towels

Picture
I always wash and dry same colors together only. This will shrink the towel and if there is any bleeding of color or terry pills this will take care of that before emb.
Cotton shrinks embroidery thread does not.
Fold The towel in half, mark the center 3 or 4 inches up from bottom. If there is a band or stripe across the end, placement is 1 to 3 inches up from band. Your placement preference.
I suggest hoop Inspiera Aqua Magic Wash A Way, cover hoops with a Hoop Shield to protect your expensive Hoops from adhesive over-spray, Lightly spray Sulky KK 2000 on Stabilizer, float your towel, and place Sulky Solvy wash a way Tear a way Med on top of towel. This will keep threads on top of the nap instead of sinking into the nap during emb.
When emb is complete, cut away access stabilizer. Wash, I use a softener, and dry.
Your beautiful towel is ready to use, gift or sell.
