4/14/2015 4 Comments fabric Spring BloomsSharing my first blooms of Spring. I cut a few of the first spring flowers from my flower garden and brought them into my sewing room to enjoy while I sew. Then I noticed these first blooms gave me energy and my mind started seeing fabric as a flower just waiting to bloom. I encourage my sewing friends to bring some flowers into your sewing room and let your creativity bloom fabric into a beautiful quilt or project. 3/15/2015 4 Comments 2015Sampler Headrest Quilt
February 19, 2015 Time to share. Whew… Its so nice to get back to blogging. No health problems or disasters. Just need two more days to the week to get all the things done I want to do. Do you remember the beautiful crochet doilies our grandmothers and moms made and had on the headrest of their upholstered chairs. The neatest thing is to take the small quilts and samplers you made in quilting classes or a few small quilts and just not sure what to do with them. Sew 2, 10″ strips of elastic, (I used black on a brown leather recliner) one on each side of the quilt. Slip over the back of your chair. You quilt will collect the hair oils and spray instead of the chair. Easily wash when needed. If you want measure your chair back and make a headrest quilt the perfect size. 3/15/2015 7 Comments 2014 See our New Products at the 2014 International Quilt Show Houston September 30, 2014 We will have a booth again this year and hope to see all of our sweet sewing sisters and make a lot of new friends . Brown Convention Center 1001 Avenida de las Americas Houston, Texas 77010 Fall Sewing Projects and Memory Lane September 30, 2014 The air is cool, the nights calm, and the sewing machine is humming a new toon. As we look through our unfinished projects, stash of fabric and patterns waiting to be made into beautiful quilts or clothing, we can reflect on a time when life was a little slower pace. Evenings were spent having family dinner gathered around the table and playing a quick game of cards or dominoes before getting ready for bed. A quick kiss and tuck the kids in bed, turn out the light and it was only then time to make school clothes for the kids or that Sunday dress you just got the fabric and pattern for. I hope you enjoyed your trip down memory lane. If you are not old enough to have made this trip with us, take the time to visit with your Grandmother, Mom, Aunt or an elder and let your imagination take you there. I’m sure you will enjoy time well spent on their journey. Chicago Road Trip July 9, 2014 Well, that was a most interesting road trip. Fifteen hours in a vehicle with my daughter Tamra, talking and laughing all the way to the Chicago International Quilt Expo. Good food, remembering good old memories and this trip was all about making new memories. This week was a special time as we were together 24 hours a day for eight days and still could find plenty to talk about. We saw some interesting new products, bought a couple of things and worked hard. Thanks to all who came by out booth. We had fun visiting with you and learning about you as well as sharing a few of our ideas. We made new friends and met up with old friends . So a big thanks to all for making this such a trip to remember. Our next road trip will be to the Rocky Mountain Quilt Festival in Loveland Colorado August 15-17th with my daughter Wendy and hopefully granddaughter Shelbi. We will split this trip with a stopover in Amarillo Texas and spend the night with one of my son’s and family. Then back on the road early next morning to arrive in Loveland in time to set up the booth and get ready for the festival opening on the 15th. We want you to drop by our booth and visit as well as check out our new products. Sew…till then…just keep sewing . June Bug Fabric June 14, 2014 It’s June already. Time for Brides and Bugs. Several of our friend this month were married, plus a grandson and granddaughter announced their engagements to be married. So love is in the air. Speaking of in the air, well that’s where the June Bugs come in. Now I went on-line and looked for June Bug fabric and could not find any. I suspect that it’s because they are not the most attractive bug around. In fact they are down right annoying. But in looking I did find some precious, cute, and beneficial little Lady Bug Fabric. I feel a Lady Bug quilt coming on or a cute little girls twirly skirt. Maybe you can send me some ideas. The Chicago International Quilt Festival begins next Thursday (June 19th – 21st). We will be there in booth 1914. Please stop by. We had planned on having our two new embroidery hoop shield the 8″ x 8″ and the 7″ x 12″, plus the new generation KISS. But alas, keeping fabrication in the USA does not come without problems. It’s looking like we will receive our stock delivery about a week late for the Chicago quilt show on the Hoop Shields, and a month late on the KISS, (Kut It Sew Straight) laser cutting line. You know the first generation KISS was extremely successful and a great tool and time saver, but when the manufacturer (a small company) could not keep up with all the new regulations and insurance requirements they had to regretfully close. During our down time we took your input and suggestions and implemented them into the next generation KISS. We are excited that we will have them in stock within the next 30 days and available to our distributors and at the Colorado Rocky Mountain Quilt Festival (August 15th – 17th. Maybe we will have the results of our June/Lady Bug project. To all the Fathers out there, we send warm wishes for you and family, and encourage each of you to reflect on how precious time is and take advantage of every day to tell each other how special and loved they are. Sew till next time may your bobbin always be full. April Showers of fabric April 9, 2014 It is Spring, and time to get ready for new projects and fabrics. Get in that sewing room and re-stack fabric, give your creative energy a lift for spring. Add a few new pieces of fabric to your colloection and see the new ideas come together. Take a class on quilting, embroidery or join a club, do something new. Bring your talents current for spring. Our Busy Hands Sewing Club is in full swing with new ideas and projects for 2014. In all that you do be sure to give thanks. Looking forward to making new friend in Chicago at the International Quilt Show. There will be new products and Hoop Shield Sizes. Check my blog later for booth #s Till next time…Just keep sewing. upcoming issue of Sew Stylish (Spring 2014) announced our products featured January 24, 2014. Notions and Cool Tools sections of Sew Stylish (Spring 2014, which will be on sale February 4, 2014) and has contacted us to say they absolutely love our Sew Straight Rulers and Color Guides. ================================================= QUOTE: “As a result, we have chosen to feature them in our upcoming issue of Sew Stylish (Spring 2014, which will be on sale February 4, 2014)” ================================================= As s seasoned seamstress, sales manager, co owner, product developer, turned entrepreneur, who’s husband Ken is an inventor, took the leap a few years ago to take a few of the sewing tools Ken had made for me in his shop, which made sewing so much easier, and had them made production ready to be manufactured in the USA. We hit the tradeshow road in Oklahoma City, then back to Ft. Worth, Texas (hometown), then on to Arlington, Waco, Houston, Missouri and the list continues. We have added a few more products since the beginning and this year will announce 2 more new sewing aids. Distributors Nancy’s Notions (Tacony Corp.) and Brewer Quilting and Sewing Supplies have added our sewing products to their sales list and web catalog. Whew…. What a ride this has become. Who would have thought that a little farm town girl now grandmother of twelve and great-grandmother of two could be living the dream? Be sure to pick up a copy of Sew Stylish Spring 2014 issue and drop us a line. We are anxious to hear how you like the write-up. New News January 24, 2014 Its been a long day. But well worth it. We were through setting up the booth in time to take in the whole floor. So much talent in one place. Some really great quilt patterns and kits. Tomorrow will take my scissors in for sharpening by the one and only scissor man. He also sharpens rotary blades.. I'm looking for a quilt stand and hope I find just the one I want. - 2013 November 30, 2013 November 23, 2013 Thanksgiving is a Action Word I thought I would be further along in my sewing by this time of the year. However life is good and its just hard to get all things done as quickly as one wishes. You know the interruptions like work, laundry, and cleaning house. The Houston quilt show was a great show this year. It was wonderful to see so many of you there. With the holidays coming soon I must wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving. As with us many of you will not be with family, but the good news is we can carry them with us in our hearts and for that we can give thanks. And as the heading of today’s blog says, “Thanksgiving is a word of action”. Remember to give to those in need or perhaps give a kind or encouraging word. With all that is happening in our world hopefully we can find something or someone for which to be thankful. God Bless |
